He Who Fights with Monsters Book 13 Release Date

In a message sent to his Patreon members in early 2026, Shirtaloon confirmed that he intends to finish writing Book 13 before going on a longer international holiday planned for April. He stated directly:

"Once I come back I intend to finish book 13 before I go on a longer holiday next month."

He further clarified that the break — a family trip with his brother, nephew, and nieces — will likely run from early April through to early May 2026. During that period, Shirtaloon plans to rest, prepare the Book 13 manuscript for the publisher, and write a side story as exclusive content for the Book 2 hardcover release.

"After the big break, I want to dig right into book 14, which will probably be the final book of the series."

He also shared his intention to release Book 14 chapters continuously on Royal Road up until LitRPG Con in July 2026, which he plans to attend in person — notably, this is the same convention he had to cancel the previous year due to his illness. Book 14 chapter releases on Royal Road are expected to begin around May 2026.

The diamond rankers are recognised as highly powerful individuals and very rarely seen as they usually take to explore the wider cosmos or personal pursuits.

There are many reasons to support the fact that He Who Fights With Monsters 15 may be the real final book of the series.

• Progression to diamond rank is expected to take many decades, even centuries. It is because of the sheer power level that Jason needs to acquire. If the difference between silver and gold rank was huge, the difference between gold and diamond rank is infintely more vast. Jason's progression cannot be through shortcuts, as it may break the immersion of the readers.
• Jason is now on Earth. Earth, as of He Who Fights With Monsters Book 12, can support only gold ranks and gold rank avatars of astral beings. And even that is restricted to limited areas on Earth such as Jason's domains. This means any diamond rankers would need to stay out of Earth as the magic levels are too low to sustain them. To boost Earth's magic levels to a level that could sustain diamond rankers would require catastrophic remoulding of Earth. The World Phoenix probably would have something to say about having such catastrophic events happen to the planets where it expended significant resources to stabilise.
• Shirtaloon may well intend to have a timeskip but the Earth currently has no astral enemies for Jason to battle and gain power. Earth's ambient magic levels can sustain only gold-rankers and fighting gold rankers would not speed up the journey to diamond rank quickly. The amount of progress that Jason needs to achieve is not theoretically possible with the antagonists that Earth can throw at him.
